Ele se aplica in gutiere (conformatoare de plastic realizate in laborator pt fiecare pacient).

Albirea nu este recomandata – sau are mult mai putine sanse de reusita – in urmatoarele situatii:

Connecting with Social Media

Connecting with Social Media

One of the key components of being an effective dentist is providing patients with the best dental care possible and providing the newest techniques possible subject to your budgetary constraints and your patients.

How does Social Media enable you to do this?

Social Media is where you are right now, a magazine in your hand or online is a form of social media. Facebook and Twitter are famous versions of Social Media as is MySpace and Blogger.

Does Social Media make you a better dentist?

They don’t but what they do is enable you to connect with likeminded people from all over the world and learn about their experiences and what’s happening where they are in the world. This is where Social Media benefits you and your patients.

I have been active in Social Media for about 9 months now and having attracted over 3500+ members to my Facebook page it has opened up enormous opportunities for me as a dentist, for example you are reading this column because Guident is a Facebook friend who wanted a European Dentists perspective on what is happening here in Europe. This has encouraged me to really look around at what is happening on the dental scene here in Europe and through this motivation I have been able to tap into new trends and new products for my patients prior to them arriving en masse in my market here in Romania.

For example through Facebook I have been given the opportunity to use a great product from Scheutz Dental of Germany, the product is called Temdent, which is a temporary crown mixture which enables me to make crowns for patients while they are in the chair and not have to wait for a temporary crown from the lab. Scheutz are also giving me samples of new products they are releasing in Europe to try and report on and I have also been featured on the Scheutz Dental website which helps raise my professional dental profile and my patients see that I am looking out for their best interests.

Dental product suppliers want to talk to dentists and Social Media enables them to talk to you more directly and also in times that suit you. They want your opinion and your views on their products and what else you think would be good for your patients.

Next week I will be receiving free samples of the DDMirror the newest innovation in dental hand mirrors which I am really excited about as this is probably the first advancement in this field of dental products in 50 years.

Social Media puts me in touch with these kinds of people and this enables me to acquire products for my patients before other dentists see them or hear about them and this keeps me as a dentist ahead of the curve.

What are other dentists and dental practices doing?

Different information from lots of different sources is the life blood of any dentist that wants to make his or her practice stand out. Using Social Media you can see what other dentists are doing in other countries. Have they developed a new way to attract patients? Does it work? Can you adapt it to fit your business model in your country? This is where Social Media enables you to see what is happening, what has been tried, whats successful and what is not.

Has Social Media helped me Dr Luana O’Connor of Happydental?

In short, YES!!!!!!!!!!!

It has helped me increase my business and increase my dental income. Prior to my entering into Social Media we had a good business. In the last 9 months we have added, a new dental practice, 3 new dentists, new dental nurse, dental sales manager and we now see how we can attract more patients to our dental practices. I have a new dentist starting in 2011 in our second practice and now we are looking for more dentists to join our city practice.

Social Media is to be taken seriously and you must also contribute to the information that is out there letting people know what you are doing, what you have tried and what has succeeded and what has failed.

Implant FAQ's

Question:
What are dental implants?
Answer:
A dental implant is a titanium metal rod which is placed into the jawbone. It is used to support one or more false teeth. In practice, both the false teeth and their supporting rod are known as ‘implants’.

Question:
Are implants safe and how long will they last?
Answer:
Implants are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment. Over 95 per cent of modern implants should last for many years with the right care.

Question:
I have some of my own teeth. Can I still have implants?
Answer:
Yes. You can have any number of teeth replaced with implants – from one single tooth to a complete set.

Question:
Can implants always be used to replace missing teeth?
Answer:
It depends on the state of the bone in your jaw. Your dentist will arrange for a number of special tests to find out the amount of bone still there. If there is not enough, or if it isn?t healthy enough, it may not be possible to place implants without grafting bone into the area first.

Question:
Do implants hurt?
Answer:
Placing the implants needs a small operation. This can be done using a simple local anaesthetic, and sometimes with sedation if you are very nervous. Sometimes the dentist needs to use a general anaesthetic for complex cases. You will not feel any pain at the time, but you may feel some discomfort during the week after the surgery. This is usually due to having stitches, and the normal healing process.

Question:
How long does treatment take?
Answer:
Your dentist will be able to give you a rough timetable before the treatment starts. Usually the permanent teeth are fitted 6 to 9 months after the implants are put in, but many implant systems now allow the time to be as short as 3 months. Some teeth can now even be fitted at the same time as the implants (known as immediate implants) but you should check with your dentist to see whether these are suitable for you.

Question:
What about after care of implants?
Answer:
Your dentist may give you some pain relief after the surgery, or check whether you have them at home to take over the next few days if you need them. Your dentist may also prescribe antibiotics. Dont smoke, exercise or drive for the rest of the day. Dont rinse the area and only eat soft foods. However, it is important that you keep your mouth clean by brushing but do not poke the implant site. You can use a chlorhexidine mouthwash every day during the first week after surgery (you can get these from supermarkets and chemists).

Question:
What happens next?
Answer:
The implants need to bond (integrate) with the bone after they have been put in. This takes at least 3 months in the lower jaw and 6 months in the upper jaw.

Sometimes the implants may be stable enough when they are fitted for the artificial teeth to be attached much sooner than this.

If you are having one, two or three teeth replaced, you may have a temporary denture in the meantime. If you have complete dentures, then you can keep wearing these throughout the healing period once they have been modified after the surgery. A healing cap will usually be placed into the implant site to protect the area during healing.

Question:
Are the teeth difficult to clean?
Answer:
No. But after care is important if you are going to have a long-lasting, successful implant. Your dentist should give you detailed advice on how to look after your implants. Cleaning around the teeth attached to the implants is no more difficult than cleaning natural teeth. However, there may be areas that are difficult to reach and youll be shown methods to help you. You may need to visit your hygienist more often but your dentist will be able to talk to you about this.

Question:
If I had gum disease when I had my own teeth, will I get it with the teeth attached to the implants?
Answer:
Yes, if you don’t care for them well enough. If you keep them clean, and don’t smoke, then you should not have any problems.

Question:
Can I take the teeth out if they are fixed to implants?
Answer:
Most artificial teeth attached to implants can only be placed and removed by the dentist. However, if you have complete dentures fixed to the implants by bars, then you’ll be able to take them out for cleaning.

Question:
Do the implants show?
Answer:
Your dentist will make sure that the implants won’t show during all normal movements of the mouth and lips. You will need to be able to see them, so that you can clean them properly.

Question:
Do I have an implant for each missing tooth?
Answer:
No, unless you’re only having a single tooth replaced. Normally, five or six implants are used to replace all the teeth in one jaw, as each implant can usually support two teeth. For a few missing teeth, two or three implants may be used.

Question:
What if I have an accident?
Answer:
Implants and the teeth they support can be damaged by an accident in the same way that natural teeth can. It is therefore important that you wear a professionally made mouthguard if you play sports that involve contact or moving objects. If there is damage, the teeth can be dismantled from the implant and replaced. However, if the titanium rod is damaged beyond repair, this part may be safely left in the jaw if it is too difficult to remove. Another implant may be placed alongside it to replace the damaged implant.

Question:
What happens if the implant does not bond with the bone?
Answer:
This happens very rarely. If the implant becomes loose during the healing period or just after, then it is easily removed and healing takes place in the normal way. Once the jaw has healed, another implant can be placed there. Or, the dentist can make a bridge, using the implanted false teeth that have ‘taken’.

Question:
Is the treatment expensive?
Answer:
Unfortunately, yes it can be. Your Implanologist will be able to provide you with a written estimate of cost. However, over the longer term, implants are usually a more cost-effective and satisfactory option. There are advantages to it, too. An implant to replace a single tooth avoids the need to cut down the teeth either side for crowns to support a bridge. Normal dentures often mean you cant eat or speak well, due to the dentures moving about. But teeth attached to an implant dont cause this problem as they are anchored to the bone more firmly than natural teeth.

Question:
Where do I get implants treatment?
Answer:
Talk to your dentist, so you can be referred to a specialist for assessment and treatment. Your dentist may already carry out some or all of this type of treatment and will give you the advice you need. Remember to ask exactly what treatment is proposed, what experience the dentist has in this work, the total cost of the treatment and what the alternatives are. Make sure you get a treatment plan, along with an estimate and ask if a guarantee is included in your payment. If you are unhappy with any of the answers you get then do ask for a second opinion. You will be spending a lot of time, effort and money, so you must be sure that you know what you are getting at the end of treatment.

Dental Insurance vs. HappyDental Plans

HappyDental -Dental Health – Insurance vs. Discount Plans

The days are long gone when people with decent jobs were offered medical or dental insurances as part of their employment package. This is not the case anymore; small businesses just cannot afford it. So when it comes down to your dental health, what should you decide: dental insurance or dental discount plan?

Dental insurance policies, nowadays, are too expensive for the average Romanian to buy. They do not have the financial means to meet the requirements of the policies due to their very high premiums. Moreover, dental insurance does not cover any of your free existing condition. Like for instance, the automobile insurance, the insurers take a good look of your vehicle and mark any of the fault it may have so they cannot be tricked into covering for it. Similarly, dental cover plan only includes any issue that might result after the insurance has been bought. Moreover, the waiting period to get covered and your issue to be taken care of can take as long as six months to up to a year. In addition, dental plans are more maintenance oriented; the local dentists may take care of your tooth cleaning and give you a fluoride treatment in order to save future complications which may cost even more money. This is also known as preventive maintenance.

However, HappyDental Plan provides a completely different side of the story. HappyDental Plan provides you with discount, from up to 10 percent to 60 percent. All the HappyDental dentists are part of this plan and are highly qualified. HappyDental Plan covers any pre existing condition that you might have, whether it is a simple procedure such as cleaning or a complicated procedure such as dental implant. Also there is no waiting period; it’s almost like the ‘pay as you go’ service. Furthermore, HappyDental Plan is extremely affordable. HappyDental Plan is 399Ron about €100.00 for a year for an individual and 599RON about €150.00 for a Family Membership for a year. All the dentists at HappyDental and all the procedures are covered by the HappyDental Plan. HappyDental Plan has made dental treatment affordable for the not-so-rich Romanian citizen, so now you can all cast away your worries and enjoy these inexpensive plans. Just be sure to also check out what HappyDental Plan can do for you, your family and your employees.

Dental Partnerships Romanian Style

Dental Partnerships Romanian Style:

In Romania dentists finish their training with one goal in their mind and that is to open their own dental clinic. This was ok in the past but today this is not the way forward for most dentists.

When you start a clinic on your own you have to do everything!!

You have to do EVERYTHING!!

With this burden on your back you will achieve some success but not your true potential as a dentist or a businessperson. There will be the lucky few who have tremendous success but this will not happen for the majority. I am lucky in the fact that my partner is a hugely supportive person and a positive contributor to my business success in all areas of my practice, from marketing to finding new dental products for me to striking deals with international suppliers and introducing never before seen products and services here in Romania.

So how do we develop in Romania the future of dental practices?

Cost savings
The most tangible benefit of partnered dental practices is cost savings realized through group buying/negotiating power.

"We are an advocate for the dentist. We have a department that evaluates products to see what works best for the needs of the dental office and then, when we choose one, for example, a teeth whitening product, we get a deal. We know what works and we get the best pricing on a product. It can be as simple as negotiating volume pricing for dental supplies or testing and sourcing various dental laboratories," Dr Luana O'Connor, Clinical Director of HappyDental Group. "Our goal is to achieve cost saving for the dentist and the patient.

Centralising

Another way this structure can help cut down costs is by centralizing marketing work such as Social Media, Patient Programmes and National Advertising Campaigns. HappyDental Group for example, is offering a partner opportunity created around the idea that dentists should be dentists, focused on matching the HappyDental Group success', with highly skilled, carefully selected dental practitioners in Romania.

HappyDental Groups marketing strategy is geared around the dentists needs and wants with the only goal being creating new patients for them and creating loyalty from thos patients for that HappyDental Group Partner.

Benefits

Key issues for dentists is giving up their independence or the fear of corporate mandates telling them what to do and how to do it.
HappyDental Group has developed a partnership programme for independent dentists to benefit from the HappyDental Branding but not be an employee of HappyDental Group.

By partnering with the HappyDental Group you will have access to:

Centralised Buying Opportunities
New Dental Products
HappyDental Plan
Online Marketing Strategies

Is this the year to go corporate?
So are the economic factors at play in 2010 enough of a motivation to reconsider a dental partnership option? Not surprisingly, most of the independent dentists in question think, "Yes!" but with different reasons.

HappyDental Group is developing this programme to help dentists achieve their ultimate potential and benefit the patients of all its partners.

Dental Tourism

International Patients and Dental Tourism

One of the key parts of our business we intend to grow over the next five years is the dental tourist.

This week we have started to see a solid start to our marketing initiative with a patient flying in from Italy to do some dental work the patient deemed essential to his well being mentally and physically.

The patient contacted our dental practice last week explaining what he felt was needed to be done after consulting a dentist locally where he resides. We discussed via email and eventually by telephone what was required. I explained to him in writing what we would require before we could treat him.

We required from the patient:

1 x Panoramic X-Ray

1 x Local dental advice

1 x Blood Analysis proof of no blood related diseases

1 x medical practitioner declaring the patient of good health and no ongoing medical conditions including heart, circulation or blood problems

1 x list of current medications being taken

The patient emailed all the required documentation so we could make sure all the possible problems could be coped with should the need arise.

Our suggestion for the patient was the following:

2 x Implants

5 x Amalgam Replacements

1 x root canal

1 x extraction

General Cleaning and gum treatment

We organised several hotels for the patient to choose from and we also organised the transfers for the patient while he was here.

Once we had agreed all with the patient he booked his flight in for a lunchtime arrival and a following evening departure.

When the patient arrived the first thing we did was to have x-rays done locally followed by our first consult where we confirmed the work that would be required and commenced immediately on the removal of the amalgam to be replaced with suitable more aesthetically pleasing fillings.

This work was able to be completed in a timely fashion but we found that one of the potential filling replacements might be unwise as the amount used was quite large so we decided to leave for later in the procedure list so the patient could decide.

After this we undertook the root canal which was fairly straightforward and was completed quickly.

As we completed the first stage of the works that had been planned the patient took a break for 90 minutes to go for some fresh air and a rest at his hotel.

Part two of the procedures was the placement of two implants in the lower jaw. We prepared for the implant surgery in the approved fashion as required by local law with all wearing surgical clean suits to minimise the risks of infection while completing the implant procedure.

The implants procedure went smoothly, as we all know this is not always the case but we were confident having examined the patients initial x-rays and x-rays done locally we had a strong jaw to work with and good bone density, so we were able to place the to implants with little difficulty or procedural problems.

After the finishing of the implant placements the patient was dispatched to the hotel to rest and recover from a long day in the chair and the surgical procedures he had undergone that day. The patient was also given 7 days of antibiotics to minimise any risk of post surgical infection. The patient was also supplied with several contact numbers should he have any discomfort during the night.

The patient was picked up in the morning and returned to the surgery for the final procedure which was the extraction. This was relatively quick and simple as the tooth was in poor shape. Once the extraction was done we placed Bios Bone which will need 6-9 months to bed into the extraction point so the patient can consider an implant to replace the extracted tooth.

The patient was then kept under observation for the rest of the day with hourly checks to make sure the work that had been completed was settling in with no discomfort to the patient. Once I was satisfied that the work completed had been successful from the patients point of view and myself the patient was signed out and returned to the airport to fly home.

I then breathed a deep sigh of relief.

Dental Tourism is going to grow but it is also very stressful as a dentist to be involved with supplying this service as unlike traditional patients where you have time to organise work and stage it over a period of time dental tourists are usually on a strict schedule an they are looking for cost effective and timely procedures. This particular case went smoothly from both mine and the patients point of view but you can also have terrible problems when the patient expects too much or they don’t realise you can only put the mouth through so much stress before you over exert the healing capabilities of the mouth.

Educating the patients on what is possible and what is impossible is one of the key elements to providing a successful dental tourism offer to international patients. Managing expectation prior to their arrival is how you stop issues arising.

One of the key factors for dental tourists is savings to the patient. This is the highest motivation for dental tourists.

LUMINEERS - the painless way to bring out the beautiful, healthy, natural, permanently white smile in you. LUMINEERS are custom designed to give you the beautiful smile you've always dreamed of. Unlike traditional veneers, there are no shots, no drilling of sensitive tooth structure, and no pain. They're even reversible, so you have nothing to lose and a beautiful smile to gain. Plus LUMINEERS are proven to last for over 20 years, so your beautiful smile will be with you for years and years.

The LUMINEERS Difference.

While traditional veneers involve a much longer, more painful process that can take months, LUMINEERS placement is quick and painless. The traditional veneers are sometimes referred to as crowns or caps. There porcelain sleeves are placed over teeth through a process that can demand extensive and irreversible cutting away of healthy tooth structure. This can require multiple painful shots and many visits to the dentist with long appointments. Once teeth have been cut away, temporary crowns are placed on the teeth while the traditional veneers are made, which can take months. The temporaries are then removed, potentially requiring shots again, and the permanent veneers are placed. Sometimes additional appointments are required to ensure that bite is correct. In contract to traditional veneers, LUMINEERS don't require shots or drilling of sensitive tooth structure, and that means no pain. That's because LUMINEERS are ultra-thin so they can be applied seamlessly over your existing teeth in only two easy visits to your dentist.

What would you like to change about your smile? Crooked teeth, cheeped teeth, a Hollywood smile, spaces between your teeth, discolored teeth? LUMINEERS can do all that and so much more for you. Are LUMINEERS right for you? Changes are yes, the next time you come to see us or you would like to learn more about LUMINEERS feel free to give us a call on 0723623932

Self Confidence with Lumineers

Self-confidence is key when it comes to presenting the best possible version of yourself to the world. While a great personality is indisputably essential, it’s also difficult to ignore the importance of taking pride in your appearance – and few aspects of a person’s appearance can affect their confidence more than their smile.

Teeth that are straight, white, and beautiful can do wonders for your sense of self-esteem, while living with teeth that are chipped, stained, cracked, crooked or discolored can make you reluctant to smile, laugh, or even speak in public. For those individuals looking for ways to rehabilitate their smile, veneers may seem like the most obvious option.

Unfortunately, while they can give you a picture perfect smile, traditional veneers also have many different risks associated with them. That’s why HappyDental recommends Lumineers to our patients. These instant orthodontics are essentially an ultra-thin type of veneer that offers all of the benefits of beautiful teeth with none of the drawbacks that regular veneers can carry.

Here are a few of the benefits of choosing Lumineers:

While the process of installing veneers can be long, involved and painful, Lumineers are absolutely pain-free. You won’t be forced to endure drilling – or even a shot – during the installation process. You’ll be completely lucid and comfortable, as the instant orthodontics are simply bonded to your natural teeth and then set using light technology. This makes Lumineers an excellent option for those with dental anxiety or particularly sensitive teeth.

Lumineers also won’t compromise your existing natural tooth structure! While veneers usually involve drilling or filing down natural teeth, these instant orthodontics are made from a flexible polymer that can be made as thin as a contact lens, so it simply slides over your teeth for a secure fit.

Unlike regular veneers, Lumineers are reversible! This means that if you change your mind at some point or simply don’t like the look or feel of your new smile, you can always remove the Lumineers and return to your natural teeth. You no longer have to worry about making a decision that could potentially affect your life forever.

While veneers often require special maintenance and regular replacement, Lumineers have been clinically proven to last for upwards of 20 years! Unless you decide to reverse the procedure, your gorgeous smile will be yours for decades – with no additional upkeep beyond maintaining basic dental hygiene required.

The process of installing regular veneers can be a lengthy one, but with instant orthodontics, you’ll have your new smile in place in just two visits! First, I will make a mold of your teeth and help you choose a flattering, natural shade for your Lumineers. Then, on the second visit, I will be bonding Lumineers to your teeth. That’s all there is to it!

So get your Lumineers from us at HappyDental the ONLY dental surgery in Romania providing Lumineers today!

Have a great day!

Lumineers for that PERFECT Smile

Hi Everyone,

Here at HappyDental we believe in dentistry being as pain free as possible. That is why we were the first dental practice and currently only offering patients Lumineers.

Here is why:
In the past, veneers were the only choice for people whose only option for teeth whitening was to have a veneer applied to their teeth. This method of teeth whitening requires anesthesia and some preparation being done to the teeth that could at times be painful, or at the very least quite uncomfortable.

Now that Lumineers are available, you can have your teeth coated with a super white porcelain without any local anesthesia and virtually no pain or discomfort and still have the same bright white results. Because Lumineers are so much thinner than conventional porcelain, they don’t require that your teeth be ground down at all as is required with standard porcelain covers.

Another plus side of Lumineers, is that they have been shown to last longer and resist cracking and leaking that has always been a problem with conventional dental veneers. They also cost less which is another thing that makes this new technology in cosmetic dentistry a far better choice. We can do more for your smile with Lumineers than just whiten your teeth, because they can also be used to close up gaps in your front teeth as well as adjust the alignment so they look straighter.

Tooth veneers can leave you with a bulky feeling and apearance to your teeth, but with Lumineers this effect is greatly reduced, because they are so much thinner than standard porcelain veneers. Lumineers also color blend so much better than the thicker veneers, because with thicker veneers colors are more abrupt due to their inherent thickness. Now more than ever there are so many more options for someone who is not completely happy with the way their smile looks and with these new painless procedures there is just no reason why someone should have a less than perfect smile.

So here you have more reasons to look in the mirror, jot down a few notes about you DON’T like about your smile then go see your nearest approved Lumineers Specialist like us and get that smile you deserve TODAY!
